The Best In U.S Travel

CAT | Uncategorized

1. Why fly, when you can drive?

While many US travelers choose to fly to destinations across the country, an RV will give you the option to explore everything that can be found along the way. Rather than viewing it all from the air, why not get up close to actually experience it? Besides time, what have you got to lose?

2.  Be a clever cat and cut costs!

Rather than spending your hard earned cash on different hotels every night, where you still have to put up with nosy neighbors and small enclosed spaces, why not get an RV that you can camp in wherever your heart desires. The cost in comparison to hotels and motels will almost definitely work out cheaper.

3. Gain Control

Forget about organized tours where you have to do what you are told, when you are told to do it! An RV will give you the freedom to plan your own trip and visit the places you wish to go, at your own leisure.

4. Ensure you always have a place to stay

Booking your RV vacation early will ensure you have a comfortable bed for every night of your travels. Forget about the hassle of booking hotel rooms for the night; with an RV you are always guaranteed of a soft pillow and warm duvet.

5. Cook to your heart’s desire

Forget dodgy fast-food joints and high-priced restaurants. RVs come equipped with kitchens, meaning you can cook all your own meals and enjoy them at any time of the day.

6. Explore the country right through your window

Enjoy the views as you drive along, right through your window. There will never be a dull moment when you have the open road right in front of you.

7. Choose the length of your stays

If you happen to come across a destination and absolutely fall in love with it, an RV will give you the freedom to stay just that little bit longer.  There is no need to worry about getting out of your room on time; with an RV you are free to stay as long as you wish…or at least the duration of your rental.

As the birthplace to 8 U.S. presidents, it should come as to surprise to visitors that Virginia is proud of its political past and present. This is evident through the numerous museums and statues that are sprinkled throughout the town’s towns and cities, each of which pay homage to this political presence in a proud, though often just plain strange manner.

Weird and wacky is something the roadside attractions of Virginia do well. So join us as we uncover the strange places that can be found on the side of the road in this proud, but beautiful state.

1. Drug Enforcement Administration Museum: Arlington, Virginia

If you visit this museum in the hope of scoring or getting high, you will be sorely disappointed. This museum is actually hardcore intent on deterring this behavior, with its shock antics aimed to scare young children and disgust the older generations.

Experience the “modern pleasure drug culture”, head to “Jimmy’s Joint” or get caught up in a booby trap that was used in the marijuana fields back in the 80’s. This museum has it all.

2. George Washington Masonic National Memorial: Alexandria, Virginia

This ten-storey shrine is dedicated to George Washington and everything he stood for by reminding the general public that he was the “guiding light of the American Republic”.

The memorial is tucked away in a museum that also houses precious artifacts like Washington’s Clock of Death and an ornate replica of the Ark of the Covenant. It may be slightly tacky, but it’s definitely worth a stop.

3. Dinosaur Kingdom: Natural Bridge, Virginia

Welcome to a world where humans and dinosaurs co-exist; at least until the humans get eaten!

This is a place where dinosaurs can rise again and we can mingle amongst them. Combine this with a somewhat comical interpretation of the war between the north and south and you have an attraction that is wacky enough to sink a ship, or at least bring down a T-Rex.

4. Enchanted Castle Studio: Natural Bridge, Virginia

Although gutted by a vicious fire back in 2001, some of this Enchanted Castle remains, much to the pleasure of those searching for strange and wacky statues and replicas.

Visit the large alien bug, tree trunks with twisted human faces, a Muffler man worked into a giant Transformer robot and King Kong clutching a biplane. As far as weird and wacky goes, this one takes the cake.

5. Haunted Monster Museum: Natural Bridge, Virginia

Set in a real, musty and dank old house, this haunted monster museum boasts every textbook cliché you could possibly think of.

Venture outside of the house into the “Freakout Forest” and you will stumble across a graveyard, a crashed plane and a rather unpleasant ogre eating a childe. Creepy to say the least!

Georgia is a fantastic place to visit for those who can’t manage to get to the “real” attractions…and I mean this in the most affectionate way possible. Georgia is a state that takes its nationalism and patriotism seriously. It is also a state that is hung up on “big attractions” and strange roadside attractions that never seem to fail at attracting the oddest of visitors.

So come on a Jurnii with us as we venture towards the coast through the surprising state of Georgia.

1. Lunchbox Museum: Columbus, Georgia

Inspired by the lunchtime memories of the years before the 1980’s, the Lunchbox Museum offers an extensive collection of America’s most beloved lunchtime metal pales.

The boxes have strategically been placed in alphabetical order allowing visitors to embark on a journey through their favorite cartoon covered pales, or to simply skip to the one that they loved the most.

From Adam 12 to Yoda, this museum seemingly has it all.

2. Babyland General Hospital: Cleveland, Georgia

For anyone born around the 1980’s, a journey to the Babyland General Hospital of Cleveland will bring back the fondest memories and introduce new ones to the next generation’s culture.

Cleveland is the birth town of the Cabbage Patch Kids, and the Babyland hospital here pays tribute to this phenomenon like no other institution could.

See the birth of these iconic dolls and experience the opportunity to nurture them into this world and even take one home with you.

3. Little Grand Canyon of Georgia: Lumpkin, Georgia

The Grand Canyon of Arizona is a place every true American should visit at least once in a lifetime. However, if you can’t manage to make it to the real thing, the Little Grand Canyon of Georgia shall nicely suffice.

Now we’re not claiming that it is anywhere close to being as remarkable, spectacular and awe-inspiring as the real thing, yet it is still aesthetically pleasing in its own right.

The area covers a total area of 1,108 acres and boasts an impressive 15 canyons, but sadly only reaches 1/30th of the depth of the true Grand Canyon.

4. Statue of Liberty Replica: McRae, Georgia

Once again, this attraction is ideal for those who can’t actually make it to the real thing.

Constructed entirely just by looking at photographs of the New York version, this replica of the Statue of Liberty is scaled to 1/12 of the actual Miss Liberty and is particularly beautiful at night under the carefully placed glowing lights.

5. The Georgia Guidestones: Nuberg, Georgia

Regarded as southern America’s answer to Stonehenge, the Georgia Guidestones may not be quite as visually breathtaking, but they do inspire some sense of awe.

Standing strong since 1930, the granite formations stand an impressive 19-foot tall each and are engraved with messages in a total of eight different languages.

Nobody really seems to know what they mean and why they are there, but nevertheless, they are still quite a fascinating attraction to visit if you can’t get to the real thing.
