Perfect Providence
The Picturesque Providence Skyline Perfect Providence is the capital and most populous city of the US state of Rhode Island and is ideal for a driving holiday because the city and its surrounds are packed with interesting and intriguing things to see and do. Providence was one of the country's first established cities and is thought to have been named in honour of "God's merciful Providence". Rhode Island School of Design Museum This prominent art museum was founded in 1877, and has since thrived and grown to become one of the most popular institutions of its kind in the country. The museum contains a broad range of works from countries such as Egypt, Asia, Africa, Ancient Greece and Rome, Europe and the Americas. Famous works by Picasso, Monet and Andy Warhol also call this place home and are perhaps some of the most prominent of the 80,000 pieces of art here. 3. Roger Williams Park Zoo Visit the animals at Roger Williams Park Zoo and you will be helping contribute to the conservation of our earth's animals, plants and other natural resources. The zoo is home to a remarkable diverse gathering of animals including some of the world's tallest, heaviest and rarest animals. Browse exhibits such as Butterflies in Bloom, The Fabric of Africa, North America, Tropical America, Australasia and the Marco Polo Trail. John Brown House The John Brown House is considered to be one of the country's most magnificent and elegant private mansions. Built in 1786, the Gregorian Style architecture of this historic building will surprise and intrigue you. As the former home of one of Providence's most well known traders, you will be guaranteed s large slice of history that will give you a fascinating insight into Providence's past. 5. Waterplace Park If relaxation in the great outdoors is what you are after, the Waterplace Park will be perfect for you. This four-acre downtown park is home to an amphitheatre, pond and fountain, with a summer concert series at the core of its popularity. The park hosts a wealth of activities and is ideal for soaking up the beautiful Providence riverfront, while at the same time enjoying the local public art and cultural events.
